Copia Investment Partners has appointed Anthony Pesutto as General Manager Marketing in its Melbourne office, reporting to Chief Operating Officer Sam Cole. Anthony will be responsible for the marketing and communications of the multi boutique fund manager and its four investment partners, OC, Ralton, Vertium and Chester.

Anthony has over 22 years’ experience in the funds management industry. Prior to joining Copia, Anthony headed up Zenith’s marketing and communications function, and prior to that, was head of marketing at Legg Mason. Anthony also has held both marketing and investment research roles at Mercer and Lonsec.

Welcoming Anthony’s appointment, Sam Cole said “We’re delighted to have someone of Anthony’s calibre join our team. Anthony will help build Copia’s profile and distribution footprint to Australian financial planners as we embark on our next phase of growth.”

Mani Papakonstantinos has over 13 years’ experience in the investment industry with roles spanning across distribution, research, and advice. Prior to joining Copia Investment Partners, Mani worked as a Distribution Manager at SG Hiscock & Company servicing the retail and institutional space. He has also held roles at Equity Trustees as a Key Account Manager and AMP as an Investment Research Manager.

Entering the new year, many of these uncertainties remain unresolved with ongoing trade and geopolitical tension. Combined, this has created a mood of extreme caution amongst investors which has seen global equity markets and, indeed, most liquid asset classes sell off materially in the December quarter.

The good news for investors is that the steep sell-off has seen valuations on equities starting to price in a material slowdown in the global economy such that we believe there is valuation support now emerging in the market.

1. Copia will amend the Constitutions of the Trusts to enable the Trusts to operate as an AMIT under the AMIT regime; and
2. Copia will elect for the Trusts to opt into the AMIT regime from 1 July 2017.

Typically, an investors’ meeting must be held in order to make any material change to a registered scheme’s constitution. In the context of changes required to the constitution to allow Trusts to elect into AMIT, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has granted relief such that an amendment to a Trust constitution may be made without investor approval, providing that notice is given to investors to explain the changes.
